The Mother: Source of Life and Abundance
Hellinger viewed the mother as the primary source of life. Through her, we receive the gift of existence, our first nourishment, and our introduction to the world of relationships. This foundational bond sets the tone for how we relate to receiving and giving in life.
When our bond with our mother is open and harmonious, it mirrors a natural flow of energy—akin to the unimpeded flow of a river. This flow enables us to embrace life with gratitude and joy, creating fertile ground for abundance to thrive. Conversely, if this bond is strained, blocked, or burdened with unresolved emotions, it can create systemic barriers that limit our capacity to receive and thrive.
Understanding Abundance Through the Mother Bond
1. Acceptance as the Key to Abundance
One of Hellinger’s core teachings is the power of acceptance. He emphasized that abundance flows when we fully accept our mother as she is, without judgment or resentment. This includes acknowledging her humanity, with all her strengths and flaws.
2. The Role of Gratitude
Gratitude is central to Hellinger’s philosophy. Recognizing the enormity of the gift our mother gave us—the gift of life—can transform our relationship with her and with abundance.
Gratitude does not mean ignoring past wounds or hardships but rather acknowledging that, at the deepest level, our mother gave us all she could. This acknowledgment fosters a sense of completion, freeing us from the weight of unmet expectations.
3. The Flow of Giving and Receiving
Hellinger noted that our relationship with abundance is deeply tied to our ability to receive. Our mother is our first experience of receiving, both physically and emotionally. If this receiving was interrupted—due to separation, trauma, or emotional distance—it might create a subconscious pattern of resistance to receiving in other areas of life.
Healing this pattern involves reconnecting with the ability to receive from our mother. By doing so, we open the channels for receiving abundance from the world around us.
